REHAU’s district heating range includes 2 PE-Xa pre-insulated pipes, RAUTHERMEX and RAUVITHERM and large diameter PP-R pipes for spines to offer a fully polymer large scale network. RAUTHERMEX has a closed cell PU foam insulation and offers excellent insulation values with a lambda value of 0.0199W/mK, making it ideal for large district heating applications. RAUVITHERM uses a PE-X foam insulation, making it extremely flexible with low heat losses, perfect for small-medium size district schemes. In 2012, REHAU started manufacturing RAUVITHERM in North Wales to reduce the carbon footprint of the product and support the local economy, making RAUVITHERM the only PE-Xa district heating pipe made in the UK.  REHAU’s PE-Xa pipes are available in UNO (up to 160mm) and DUO (up to 75mm) and REHAU’s PP-R pipes are available up to 315mm OD.

REHAU’s PP-R pipes offer a real alternative to steel spines with benefits such as no need for expansion loops, excellent corrosion resistance and lower pressure losses due to the smooth inner surface. This combined with installation benefits such as up to 37% lighter weight are making more developers and contractors switch to polymer for 4th generation heat networks. 

Both PE-Xa pre-insulated pipes use the leakproof Everloc™ compression sleeve fitting which can be done in all weather conditions and has been used over 850 million times worldwide. Both polymer pipes offer excellent installation advantages over steel due to their weight, long coil lengths, jointing technique and flexibility.
