With a long history in industrial refrigeration, Star were well placed in 2009 when asked to provide a seawater sourced heat pump for Drammen in Norway.
Still believed to be the world’s largest 90C ammonia heat pump sourcing heat from a salt water fjord, Drammen set the pathway for subsequent projects in the UK.
In 2020 Star delivered the UK’s largest seawater source heat pump using ammonia at Queens Quay in Clydebank. Backed with a long term maintenance contract this has gained a huge amount of interest with hundreds of guests.
This was followed up in Bristol’s Castle Park when we delivered both the heat pump and the abstraction design and manufacture for the cornerstone of the cities heat network ambitions.
